FASB - The mission of the Financial Accounting Standards Board is to establish and improve standards of financial accounting and reporting for the guidance and education of the public, including issuers, auditors, and users of financial information. Provides access to accounting standards (FASB Pronouncements).

 

Government Accountability Office (GAO) – Press releases, GAO Highlights, and financial reports of the U.S. Government. Also contains the 2003 Revision to the Government Auditing Standards.

 

Government Accounting Standards Board The GASB provides information and guidance for users of financial reports as well as useful links to relevant websites.

 

Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) - An association dedicated to the educating, certifying, and training management accountants and corporate financial managers.

 

Internal Revenue Service – The IRS, part of the US Dept. of Treasury, provides tax information – downloadable forms, e-filing instructions, and online payment options.

South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants The SCACPA assists CPAs in South Carolina with news, professional development activities, etc. Includes helpful weblinks for CPAs including Regulations and Government Links, AICPA, CPA Vision Project, AICPA Vision, AICPA, CPA Web Trust, and Top 10 Technologies

 

South Carolina Board of Accountancy – SCBA provides information relevant to the practice of accounting in South Carolina.

 

South Carolina Comptroller General – Provides various state government reports including the State of South Carolina’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. Also Provides news and information about Education, Business, Health, Public Education, Environment, and Tourism.

 

South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation – Sometimes called the LLR, this agency oversees more than two dozen licensing boards including the Board of Accountancy.

 

South Carolina Department of Revenue – SCDOR is responsible for administering the state tax laws and collecting taxes. Tax guides and rates, electronic payment system, and details of tax relief policies.

 

SEC Filings and Forms (Edgar) - The SEC requires all public companies (except foreign companies and companies with less than $10 million in assets and 500 shareholders) to file registration statements, periodic reports, and other forms electronically through EDGAR.

 

U.S. GAAP – Generally Accepted Accounting Principles in the United States. Contains Bulletins, Opinions, Standards, and Concepts. Search by topic.

 

USASpending.gov – An attempt to make government spending transparent. Look up government grants and contracts, Users may search by recipient name, DUNS number, city, county, ZIP code, congressional district, or recipient category (government, higher education, nonprofits, individuals, for profits, other), or pull up the entire list of recipients or transactions.

Biography of America - A Biography of America is a telecourse and video series that presents American history as a living narrative. In addition, you'll find a listing of key events of the period, a map relevant to the period, the transcript of the video program, and a "Webography" - a set of annotated web links. You will most likely want to watch the video program before using its related web segments, but you can use either independently.

Center for History and New Media – Offers a complete virtual course on U.S. History including model syllabi, discussions of historical methods and evidence, original documents, images, guides for instructors, and interviews with especially effective teachers.  Similar materials are offered for World History.
