The Anderson University Chamber Singers is a
smaller choir whose
members are selected for their superior musical skills. The ensemble has been invited to perform at
the National Cathedral in Washington, DC, and the South Carolina Music
Educators’ Association convention. It
has also served as a demonstration choir for the South Carolina American
Choral Directors’ Association convention. In conjunction with the AU Choir, the group presents a Choral
Excursions concert each fall and a Masterworks concert each spring. The Choral Excursions series features music
and art of diverse cultures, times, and places. The Masterworks series offers great choral
works with orchestra. Recent performances
include Haydn’s Heiligmesse, Durufle’s Requiem, and Handel’s Messiah. The Chamber Singers appear in AU’s annual Christmas First
Night celebration and the AU President’s Gala, which showcases the university’s
performing groups in an entertaining variety show. The AU Choir and Chamber Singers also provide
music for traditional worship services in two to three churches each semester.
Scholarships are available for selected
students. For more information about the
Anderson University Chamber Singers or to request an appearance, contact Dr.
Richard Williamson at (864) 231-2122 or rwilliamson@andersonuniversity.edu. Anderson University
