10.  Character and Scenario  (note: If you are singing an art song and you are not a specific character, you must develop one.    Use your imagination, reading the text, “reading between  the lines”.  Ask yourself  these questions and write down your answers on the back of this paper:

11. Translation: 

A.  Off the page, on a separate piece of paper or on the back of this paper, write the text   in the original language and then the correct word-for-word translation underneath.  Use a dictionary to look up words even if you have a word-for-word translation.

 

B.  Write the text in present-day language, even slang.

 

12.   Write text off the book in poem form and read it dramatically.  Read it to someone, read in front of a mirror.
