SKILLS

Communications -       Writing and speaking skills

Essay writing with a focus on concept development, organization, and good grammatical practice

Comparing and contrasting modes of communication for writing and speaking

Content focus on the American experience

6 hours (freshman level)

 

Mathematics -                         Course designated by major

3-4 hours (freshman or sophomore level)

 

Foreign Language -      Focus on conversation and language studies

                                    2-semester sequence or demonstrated competency equivalent

6 hours (freshman or sophomore level)

 

Healthy Lifestyle        Wellness Course

                                    Focus on healthy lifestyle, fitness testing, and activity

                                    2 hours

 

 

AREAS OF INQUIRY          

Humanities -               Includes disciplines of literature, history, philosophy and religion

Requirements must include entry-level and upper-level courses

Faculty are encouraged to consider at least one inter-disciplinary required course

Faculty are encouraged to consider appropriate sequencing of courses based on level of student skill development

Fine Arts -                  Includes disciplines of art, music, and theater

Faculty are encouraged to consider at least one inter-disciplinary required course

Social Sciences -          Includes disciplines of psychology, sociology, economics and political science

Faculty are encouraged to consider at least one inter-disciplinary required course

3 hours

 

 

Natural Science -         Includes disciplines of astronomy, biology, chemistry, physics, and

physical science

Requirements must include entry-level and upper-level courses
