· We utilize a case oriented discussion based class. No lectures only discussion. We focus on the key areas of market strategy and how to resolve key business issues. · Students utilize the CapStone simulation where student teams run a $100 million company in direct competition with other student teams and are ranked against thousands of other teams across the country who are doing the simulation at the same time. |

· We start with the principles of how to advertising and promote products but have strong emphasis on seeing how these principles practically work. Thus we discuss how these are done in real life through commercials, ads, and integrated marketing campaigns how to advertise and promote products · Students do real-life projects developing advertising campaigns for real businesses. Previous projects include: a campaign for a hardware store, a new apartment complex, Duke’s Sandwich Shop, and a local UPS store. |

· We study why consumers do what they do and how they do it. Issues such as why $0.99 pricing works, how a good retail stores can be designed to lead customers to spend more. · Students do consumer behavior studies for real companies and advise the firms how to target market and more effectively market to their customers. Students have done research on projects such as WebWatcherkids.com (software for parents to see what their kids do on-line), the Anderson County Fair, proposal for Anderson University to develop an MBA program. |

· We study all the principles of marketing necessary to effectively market products and services. · Students develop a marketing plan for a new product which the students think up. Past projects have included plans for: An OnStar dog collar to find a lost pet, Transition Lens Windshields for cars to automatically tint according to the brightness of the sun, a device to automatically translate English to Spanish, French, or other language. |
